It wears me out [02 Oct 2005|10:23pm]

So last night was a great show I hope. What did you guys think of it? We put everything we had into that one, it would have been nice to win but I feel like the fact that we played a good show is just as good or if not better than winning. We barely made it. How did that happen, you ask?

Well Saturday we were at Guitar center from like 12 to 4 deciding on which PA System to buy. We finally decided and spent exactly $749.00 on two 400 watt speakers, two speaker stands, a power mixer, two mics and mic stands and cables for everything. It is a very exciting moment for the band and this means we can host our own shows with other bands and stuff so be on the look out for that. Anyway after going back and getting the right cables and some food, we tested it out for the first time. I wasn't really happy about it for some reason, but I left once we finished running through the set. I had a lot on my mind and sort of lost track of time as I took a shower and everything. Eventually I got out and gabe had tried calling me like 10 times and i realized it was 7:00 and we went on at 7:30! So I rushed over to Gabe's house and he jumped in and Mike held the stuff down in the back as I sped to Campfire. Once we got there it was really sweet how like everybody came out and helped us get our stuff directy to the stage. THanks everybody for helping. And thanks to everyone who came out. So we went on at 7:30 and put on the best show we've ever performed, in my own opinion. Awake? was a bit rough and Paper Heart started off similiar but picked up towards the end. Then Hourglass started at the show really kicked into high gear and we went through Banana flawlessly. Haha and during Hourglass they said we had like 5 minutes left so we were like ummm "fuck that, they stole from our set last time we played" So we went through all of Banana and all of Wonderful World, which I feel was the best performance of that song yet. I was really happy about it and I think the other guys were as well.

It was really nice having a lot of people come up and tell us how good we were, it was a bit new for me, but it was enjoyable. The judges were also very supportive of us and we really appreciated that. I can't wait till will play another show it will rock so hard! Moby Dick rocked hard, and they won so that's cool. Didn't really pay attention to anybody else besides Tainted Bliss (who by the way, the singer had the coolest shirt at the show) which was interesting but the guy broke his guitar? It broke my heart to watch an innocent guitar be slain before me.

Had an interesting talk with Christian and others, but perhaps that doesn't really belong in the Jentulain community so I will stop there.

It is too late now because....
You have not been paying attention.

Say it ain't so [28 Aug 2005|12:11pm]

[ mood | awake? ]

Well last night was the much anticipated battle of the bands show at Campfire. I feel like making the review this time so I will. Things were a little stressful for me. First I had to work, the night shift at Carpenter's. Earlier in the week I asked my co worker Ashley if she could come in and allow me to leave early for the show. Well she said she might be able to, and Carla (another co worker) said she'd be there or whatever. It was very confusing. Anyway Saturday came along and I get there and Carla has left. So there is only like 3 people working in the entire department. In order to get our job done we need atleast 4 people. I kept trying to call Ashley but she never answered, so I realized I was going to have to the job by myself and somehow get to the show before 8 o clock. My usual clock out time is like 7:40. So I rushed through everything and finally left around 7:15 cause I am a badass Dietary worker.

So I got to the show at like 7:40 and met up with Brittany and got changed and met up with everyone else. Apparently they were running behind by like a half hour so things were okay. I felt a little nervous when I got there and I think Gabe did also. Before I entered I found out we were winning the popularity vote. That made me feel less nervous about the show. Then when I went inside John Shanahan's (sp?) band, Tainted Bliss, was playing. I thought they were pretty good, a little out of control, but not so bad. Gabe went up and played a crazy guitar solo with John, that was pretty sweet. Then like the next two bands sucked ass.

Now on to Jentulain's performance. By this time I didn't feel nervous at all and looking around and seeing all our friends, Brittany, Jared, Kaila, John, Josh, Joey and everyone else made things less stressful. Well the first song we played was "Awake?" and it sounded really bad ass. Gabe and I couldn't hear ourselves sing at all so I have no idea how most of the vocals sounded. The song ended a bit prematurely but that wasn't a big deal at all. Then the next song was "Paper Heart", which I dedicated to Brittany. That one really meant a lot to me and I feel like we captured the emotion of the words in our performance. Mike played great guitar and I enjoyed switching around and stuff. It was just a great performance of that song. At that point I knew this could very possibly be one of our best shows. The next song was "Hourglass", which Gabe and I decided to sing together. That song went extremely well and the harmonies worked I believe. Unfortantly halfway through the song some lady came up and held a sign that read "5 minutes" so we ended Hourglass right after the solo and went right into "Banana" which sounded as excellent as ever. WE only sang one verse and went straight to the solo and the outro. Finally we reached "Wonderful World" which I believe was a good climax to our set. Everything sounded tight and there were very few mistakes made by anybody. I definately believe that was the best show we have ever played. I would like to thank you all for coming out and supporting us. Hopefully next time we will get our entire 20 minute time limit.

The judges said a lot of nice things about us, like "You guys are too smart for the Lakeland crowd, obviously these people have never heard good music." or "You guys are a breath of fresh air". We didn't win, however, Malkavian won. We did win the popularity vote thing, which won us a total of $72.

Once again I'd like to thank everyone who came out and supported us. We have two more shows coming up so we'll keep you posted.

Well today was a good long recording session. From 9:30 to 5:30. Pretty damn long wouldn't you say? Anyway, we got a lot done, and everything is sounding great. I am super excited. And the quality is so amazing. If you want to listen to a preview of the kind of quality we are producing, here is a ROUGH MIX of Paper Heart. It still needs work, but the quality is still insanely perfect. Anyway, go listen to what is in store.

Alright, so yeah. I am super excited about what is in store.

Hello. I am not sure if anyone reads this, but if you don't, then I fucking hate you. I just felt like writing about some Jentulain stuff.

Hmm, today and the last couple days were devoted almost completely to recording. The stuff that has been coming out has been fucking great in my mind. Not sure if you all will like it though, it's not catchy single type stuff. It's getting darker.

Jentulain has come into the possession of a drum machine, as well as a PA. This is big, and fucking great. You have no idea. We are going to be much better, much soon.

Piano has become a real big thing for me. It adds a lot to the songs we have been writing. It's great.

New album in the works. We scratched the concept album idea, as it's too difficult to do at this time. Whatever.

Alright, bye. And don't forget to keep listening to the new mixes and and new song on the Jentulain Purevolume account. Bye.

SHOW [10 May 2005|05:27pm]

[ mood | geeky ]

Well there will possibly be a show the 21st at christina park...It is a Out of School Bash and there will be numerous bands but the only ones you should care about is Jentulain and John Frankenchip! Well see you there

In Mute, Exit.

I really looooooooooooove you. [01 May 2005|10:28am]

[ mood | tired ]

So the show was last night at Christina Park. If you didn't go, I don't like you. Anyway, here is how it went.

When I woke up that morning, I felt so sick and I had a temperature of 100 and I felt like I was going to die. I drugged myself up, and went throughout the day, but by the time we had to leave for the show, I felt like dying again. So I took a bunch more medicine, and just left.

Sammy and Chris and I got there at 6 and we all hung out with the other bands, setting up the PA and stuff. Kyle Town and Sammy had a rock paper scissors match to see who would go 3rd. Sammy lost, so Jentulain was up second. We all sat around and waited and then Darin finally got there with the amps and stuff. The first band started playing at like 7:30, and they were not really something I would listen to, but I guess they are good at what they do. Then they finished and our band starting setting up. After a long time, we finally finished sound checks and everything. So then we started playing.

We started with Banana, and it sounded good. It wasn't perfect, but it was close. We have yet to play that song flawlessly. I felt real sick, and yelling and all that zib zab was killing me. I was just trying not to jump around and rock out too much, so I would make it through the whole show. Anyway, Banana was good and then we tuned and went into Ragdoll. Ragdoll went real well. A couple people told me they liked that song best. Which is cool. At the end, where I have to yell real hard, I started to feel real dizzy, and my eyes started to get all black, and I knew I was going to pass out, but then I finished yelling, and just caught my breath and got some water. It was pretty scary. I thought about what the next song was, and realized it was another song I had to sing, and I didn't want to, so I told Darin and Sammy we should play Blunder. So we started that. The music was good, but Darin's mic was too quiet. But it was still pretty good. Then we went into Simply Pathetic, and we played it and it was real good sounding, and then we transitioned into Untitled perfectly. We played that and this time you could hear Darin sing, and he played a good guitar solo, and it sounded great. Then we played Trainwreck, and I almost exploded from sickness cause I had to yell so hard. At the end of that song, Sammy played a drum solo while Darin and I made feedback and stuff. Then we went straight into Moby Dick by Led Zeppelin, and then from that into Dazed and Confused, and that ruled. Everyone was up there yelling and screaming and clapping, and Kyle Town was dancing. It rocked. Then we said thanks to everyone and tore down our stuff, and Frankenchip started to set up.

Frankenchip ruled as usual, and they were real funny and it was just super cool. But we had to leave right after them because they were so obscene and Sammy's mom was angry. Haha. I frantically said bye to everyone and I couldn't find Kaila or any of that possy, so I figured they left. So we left and got fries and milkshakes and McDonalds. I realized I felt a lot better now for some reason. Sammy's mom said that I might have sweated the sickness out. I did sweat a lot, so hopefully that is true.

Anyway, I wanted to stay and see Moby Dick, because I like their style, but Sammy's mom made us leave, so God damnit. Some highlights of the show were...

1. Wearing sweet Steak N' Shake hats.
2. Kick boxing Kyle Town.

Ok that's it. Haha.

All in all, it was a real fun show and thanks to everyone who came, and everyone that didn't, you suck ass.
